Your Journey is your own.

“Everyone’s Journey will differ depending upon where they are at within it. Every Mile you take, every small victory you have is one to be proud of.”

Every day, we encounter different experiences. One’s that either teach, or deter us from whomever it is we have decided to be.

Every day is a chance to begin again. To start anew with new goals and a new mentality, toward whatever new journey you are partaking within.

Whether that is parenting, a new marriage, a new job or fitness. No matter where you are at in your life, the value still remains.

“Never Measure your self worth by what other people think you should become.”

Sometimes within our journey, you may notice your motivation is faltering. Your inspiration to truly keep on is wavering. Maybe you’ve seen another’s success, compared it to yourself and then steered away from it. Maybe it encouraged you to start this journey to.

But at times, it can seem easy to compare where you are to another being, and really throw yourself off course. This happens to many of us. But why allow that to deter you entirely?

Where someone else is within their journey may not be where you are yet. But that does not in any way mean that your ability to really accomplish whatever it is you wish to, is faltering.

Everyone’s Journey is Different.

Of course at times, when you observe others and see how far they’ve come in life, it can deter you to some extent swaying you off course. Bringing up doubt, worry or fear. It can make you question your ability to even do it..

But why is that so?

Why, compared to leading your journey in comparison to another’s, you cannot just accept, and empower who they are and utilizing it to being that positive motivation for you along your journey to.

We as women, as human beings should not look to another in their journey as a comparison, or a negative attribute. We should be seeing these as positive moments in their life and ours.

It’s easy to become swept up within the chaos of the world, the constant comparison to others, and that continued pressure to do more. To be more. But compared to doing this, you should really be appreciating where you are now, and accepting what is.

-Holding confidence knowing that you to can obtain those results if you try, if you commit, and if you believe

“Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” -Thomas Edison

When you take away that perception that you have to compare yourself to another, that you have to be better then them, or that you can’t do it because they are. It not only shifts your mentality, but it also allows you to see things in a much more positive light.

See, I started my fitness journey over two years ago. And I just now am starting to see some ab definition. Has it been easy? Absolutely not. Have I given up at times? Of course.

Have there been weeks, or days I have gone without working out at all? Yes.

But I picked it back up, and kept going.

Why? Because in order to really get anywhere in life you have to commit you have to push on. You have to fully motivate yourself to doing so, and understanding that progress will not happen over night, and be OK with knowing that.

It’s easy to fall out of a routine, or not even know where to start. It’s easy to give up. To quit. Or to put yourself down. But is this in any way benefitting you?

No. If your ready and willing to make that change, to take that step then this blog is for you. The only person in control of your life, your outcomes is YOU. So until you believe that, see it, and accept it for all that it is, you will continue to walk along that same path you so desperately wish to move past.

Here are some ways to really buckle down and keep on the journey you have started in a positive way. One that will bring much more fulfilling results, and positive benefits to you as well.

1) Show up:

This seems fairly straight forward and to the point. Well my friends, that’s because it is. In order to get to wherever it is you want to be at in life. You must first show up.

To get the results you want, the outcomes you desire (whether this is in fitness or in life.) you first need to be there. Have you ever heard of a story where someone didn’t show up, didn’t put in the effort and still succeeded? Very scarcely I am sure.

If all the great athletes we know of today just stopped showing up to practice, stopped attending games, do you truly think they would be the person they are today? No. If the actors and actresses we see in shows and movies just stopped attending practice, or carving out time to attend auditions do you think they still would have gotten the part? Of course not.

You see, in order to really succeed in your life, along whatever journey you are on, you first need to Show Up.

“Eighty Percent of Success is showing up.” -Woody Allen

2) Make time:

This correlates perfectly with the first. In order to really start seeing progress, to start inching your way toward that victory, toward the goals you have set for yourself you really need to make time to do just that.

Showing up is one thing, but sticking around and making it work (even if your time is limited.) Is the real tipping point of that stone.

Making time for things you enjoy doing, (or not so much) may seem like a foreign language to some. With work, school, family, or whatever is buying up your time, how ever can one fit in a 15 minute workout? Or 10 minutes to practice your lines? It’s seems impossible but it’s not.

When you make time to do these things, it can seem so much more obtainable then it did prior.

Time is of the essence, we all hear. Yet, unless you make the time available for you, you won’t ever reach that point in life.

Here is a trick I use specifically for this. Set a timer for the same time every night/day. Pick a time that is convenient for you. Maybe it’s in the morning before you have to go to work, Maybe it’s right after dinner, right after your hour play session with the kids, a half hour after you do homework. Whatever time is convenient. Pick it, and stick to it. Set that timer to go off at that same time every day, and the minute it does, commit fully to doing whatever it is you need to do to get this ball rolling-to reaching that goal.

If that’s fitness then do that. But Make time.

3) Persevere:

Any journey you walk in, whether it is fitness, acting, art. It takes time. It takes patience, and commitment and a desire to try.

Sure there may be days when you want to give up, when you want to quit but Don’t. Keep going. If you carved out that time for you to partake in said activities, then by golly stick with it. Don’t push it aside, don’t tell yourself you can’t because nothing seems to be happening. “I’ve been doing this for over a month and I have barely seen any progress, maybe I am just not cut out for it.” This my friend’s is false. These are obscured beliefs you have inside you that are not your own. Push those thoughts aside and Keep Moving Forward. You CAN Do it.

It is easy to give up. To quit. But if you truly want to see progress, to make it to that end point you really need to persevere through. It will get hard, it may become challenging, but you can do it.

4) Go easy on yourself

Being hard on yourself is something I still struggle with to this day. With the obnoxious beauty standards we have in the world, the pushed beliefs from others and the obscured perceptions of who we should be.

It can be easy to throw rocks. It can be easy to throw yourself under the bus and beat yourself up to an extent that makes you want to quit. Don’t.

Realize, you are committing to something life changing, something that isn’t supposed to be easy. You got to the point you are at in life right now for one reason or another. You’ve road the rocky battles, faced the hard challenges and here you still stand.

Be nicer to yourself. Lead with love and compassion. Express gratitude for the things you currently do possess and make it a habit.

Find something about you that you love, and THANK yourself for it. Don’t put yourself down simply because you seen someone else progressing faster then you are, don’t beat yourself up for missing that goal in the time you had hoped to. Take a breath, and be kind.

Practice Self love.

And lastly;

5) Remember why you started

You started upon this path, this journey for one reason or another. You motivated yourself to doing exactly this for SOME reason. So when the going gets tough, the waves get high, remember why you started this journey in the first place.

Maybe you were tired of working a dead end job and wanted to become more than you were, doing something that is more in alignment with who you are. Maybe you were tired of feeling unfulfilled in life and wanted to find a new hobby that resonated with who you are and also brought forth positive change to yourself and the world. Maybe you have little eyes watching you and simply wanted to change who you were because you wanted better for them.

Whatever it may be. Remember that. Thank yourself for it.

Self growth is something that I strive to accomplish every single day, and you have the ability to do so to. You have the full capability to really buckle down and start any new journey you wish to. Whether that is fitness, mindfulness, or pursuing a new career or the dreams you have had for some time.

Every day you are born again. You wake up to a new day, a fresh start, one where you CAN better who you were the day before. Every day is an opportunity for you to try something new, to become something more than you were if you so desire to. Allow those things to give you wings.

Embrace all that is, and be proud of who you are and how far you’ve come in life. In your journey. Every stepping stone, every battle, every challenge faced, has made you who you are today. And that, is something to be thankful for.

No two people are alike. Everyone is molded and shaped the way they are for one reason or another. It’s time you start seeing that to.

As you live, you learn. As you grow, you can either take what was learned as an opportunity for positive change, or allow it to diminish. That choice is always yours. The possibilities are endless. Choose to be kind, choose to grow.
